PDP Board of Trustees has urged the US government to delist the country from its ``countries of interest'' list over terrorism.
Alhaji Abubakar Baraje, the party's National Secretary, in a statement, made the agitation on Tuesday in Abuja after the organisation's board meeting.
``The party enjoins the US government and competent authgorities to do justice to Nigeria and remove us immediately from any adverse security classification,'' he stated.
It could be recall that Mr Farouq Abdulmutallab, a 23 year-old Nigeria was arrested on Dec. 25 for attempting to bomb a Detriot bound passenger air craft.
The father of the suspect, Alhaji Mutallab, had earlier reported the son to both US and Nigerian secruty agencies over strange behaviours of the suspect.
It could also be recalled that the US included Nigeria on the list of 14 countries classified as axis of terrorism.
Among the countries so labelled include Libya, Yemen, Sudan, Pakistan, Somalia and Eritrea, among others.
``The stand of the Nigerian government and the conduct of Mutallab are both a clear testimony to the fact that Nigeria entirely rejedcts terrorism at both official and personal levels,'' the PDP said.
Baraje stated that Nigeria had formally resolved to cooperate with the international community in the fight against terrorism even before the Sept. 11, 2001 bombing of World Trade Centre in New York.
The BOT of the ruling party also discussed the health condition of President Umaru Yar'Adua, and expressed the hope that he would recover to return home soon.
``The BOT observed that Vice President Goodluck Jonathan has been discharging the duties of the president in accordance with the provisions of the 1999 Costitution,'' Baraje said.
The meeting, according to the PDP scribe, also expressed delight with the Federal High Court decision to the effect that there was no vacuum in the leadership of the country.
