The embattled Deputy Governor of Bauchi state, Mohammed Garba Gadi has declared that he will not resign his office no matter the efforts to frustrate him. He said that he is not afraid of the impeachment moves against him. According to him he has resorted to divine intervention praying God to without delay expose all those who have a hand in his present political travail. Addressing a press conference in the company of some members of the State House of Assembly yesterday in his office, Garba Gadi said that no pressure will make him part with the mandate given to him by the people of the state declaring that, ‘the cause I am fighting is that of the people and I will not drop it just because some people want me to do so. I am still the Deputy Governor of the state and nothing can change that.” Mohammed Garba Gadi in further demonstration of his faith in God said, “I call on all the people who are in the support of my cause to continue to pray and fast for me so that at the end of the day I will be vindicated. I am praying to God to immediately strike down all those who have hands in what is happening to me no matter how small such a person is.” He however added that, “I want to thank all those who have called or sent me messages that they are praying for me with their families.People are rising in my defense from far and near. I want to assure them that I am for the people and that whatever course I fight is for the people.” The Deputy Governor who confirmed that he has been served with the impeachment notice by the House of Assembly last week also declared that, “I am ready to face the panel in order to clear my names of all the allegations preferred against me but let me say something, if after holding office for 2 years as a Deputy Governor all that can be said against me is the collection of two estacodes for one trip and the sum of N2.4m then things in this country are changing for good.” He added in an emotion laden voice that if in his 30 years of civil service 17 of which was at the topmost level he was not indicted of any wrong doing not even a query, he is confident that by the time he faced the panel he will come out unscathed and the world will know who is wrong assuring that he will not relent in his effort to see that justice was done and the wronged was righted no matter what it will take to attain such a position. The Deputy Governor, who said he had no regret serving the Isa Yuguda led administration in the last two years added that, “there is cordiality between the Governor and myself and so it will remain because there was a no time we sat down to discuss the political problem with him, this is a demonstration of maturity and so shall it continue”, he then said that he recognizes only one ANPP in the state just as he was not bothered about the decamping of 17 ANPP members of the State House of Assembly to the ruling PDP explaining that it is their right to do so.
